There is no doubt that race relations in America has been severely
divided and damaged. Blacks against Whites, Whites against Blacks, Asians
against Hispanics, etc…. You get it.
Like I said, Race Relations in America was actually thought to be
better after Barack Obama became President, but I knew better. I said racism
was on the rise, but whiny a-holes from the right attacked me for it. So
anyway, who or what is the cause of this National racial divide?
Is it President Obama’s fault? President Obama couldn’t be blamed
for the current state of the country, etc. So the right was finally able to
blame something on him, like many other things, that weren’t his fault.
From my favorite right-wing site, Outside the Beltway. These guys
“Just about a year ago, a controversy was making its way through the conservative
blogosphere that arose out of an incident at a Philadelphia, PA
voting place on Election Day 2008 where two men representing something called
the “New Black Panther Party”” were standing outside purporting to
intimidate voters while a Fox News Channel camera recorded the whole thing. The
incident was investigated by the Department of Justice and, before Barack Obama became President, the
decision was made not to pursue criminal charges in the matter. The matter
eventually made its way to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights where Abigail
Thernstrom, a Republican member of the Commission, called the case “small potatoes” while others
on the right attempted to turn it into a huge scandal.
The controversy mostly died out when the Summer of 2010 ended and
people began focusing on the election, but Rick Hasen at Election Law Blog
notes that there was a final report issued by the DOJ back in March
and it turns out that the whole story really was much ado about nothing:
(1) the original NBPP controversy really was small potatoes, as Abby Thernstrom and Jonathan Adler concluded. This was a tiny
incident in a single polling place about which there was no proof of a single
(2) Jonathan thought the decision to narrow the injunction after
obtaining the default judgment did not make sense, but the OPR gives plausible
reasons for why DOJ leadership did so—reasons about the scope of injunctions
and First amendment rights which seem very strong to me as a teacher of
(3) Whether we should call DOJ’s subsequent actions a “cover-up”
as Jonathan says or not, DOJ certainly did a very poor job explaining its
actions. And it is only from the OPR report that one can get a clear sense as
to the bona fide dispute among those at DOJ over how to handle the case.
(4) The decision of how to handle the controversy does provide a
window into the shift between the Bush and Obama administrations over how to
handle claims of voting rights violations against non-minority voters. The DOJ
has limited resources and needs to prioritize. Cases like NBPP and the Ike
Brown case in Mississippi (as well as NVRA cases requiring cleaning up
of voter rolls) were of greater priority to the Bush Administration than to the
(5) Some on the right hoped to use the controversy over NBPP to
paint the Obama DOJ as politicized and to make a scandal out of a legitimate
difference in opinion over DOJ prosecutorial priorities and prosecutorial
discretion. I was amazed to learn that FOX News had 95
segments on the NBPP issue in little over a two week period. J.
Christian Adams, Big Government, Hans von Spakovsky, and Pajamas Media-along
with the Republican-leaning commissioners on the Civil Rights Commission (aside
from Thernstrom)—sought to make as much political hay out of the incident as
But in the end, there’s no there.”
But that doesn’t the racist right from falsely blaming President
Obama for the racial divide THEY caused!!! They couldn’t successfully
blame the President for the massive debt their party caused, so they got to
blame him for something. P.S. That Black Panther case was the right’s only case
of Obama causing racial divide among Americans. But since the case was noid and void under Bush….yeah…
But…how else has Obama set back race relations? Let’s count the
his campaign, he suffered through racist rants and attacks from the racist
was elected, Some white assaulted blacks as a retaliation towards the
President’s victory ( http://articles.nydailynews.com/2008-11-15/news/17911016_1_teens-baseball-bat-staten-island)
number of hate groups, sadly including the tea party movement rose to 58
percent since the year 2000 (http://articles.cnn.com/2009-02-26/us/hate.groups.report_1_hate-southern-poverty-law-center-groups?_s=PM:US)
Obama has constantly getting racist e-mails and death threats, more than any
other president in history. (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/barackobama/5967942/Barack-Obama-faces-30-death-threats-a-day-stretching-US-Secret-Service.html)

brain-dead troll, Robert, knows exist. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/16/10-most-offensive-tea-par_n_187554.html

Racist comments all major websites like the blaze, American Stinker, etc., and

of racist groups such as the “Birthers”.
pictures and e-mails against the President and First Lady (Google)
blogs like idiots4obama, yussefucker, whatever his name is.
You know, the right has proven their racism not only towards
Obama, but to the black community. They insult African-Americans’ intelligence
every day because they are the majority of groups that voted for Obama, and
these assholes want the blacks to vote for them? And their weak, tired claim of
racism is that because over 95 percent of blacks voted for Obama because he’s
black, they are the racists. But what about the people who didn’t vote for
Obama because he was black? Are they not racist? What about the people who
voted for Obama/Biden because as far left as the two of them are, they’re still
closer to center than the combo of McCain/Palin.
The right’s latest attempt is hiding behind actual black
conservatives like Allen West, Herman Cain, etc. But these CONS are only using
them as scapegoats and shields to hide their racism behind, but to mention they
like them because they think like white conservatives, thus given the name
“House Negro” or “Uncle Tom” because they believe if blacks
don’t think like them, that means they want to be slaves to the government forever.
It’s not Obama’s fault that there are racists on the internet who
are constantly on
the attack. The people who are setting us back 20 years are those who can’t
handle the fact that we have a black man as POTUS.
To think we’ll have to put up with this bullshit of racists pulling the reverse
race card and the denial card is crazy. Well, I think not. No, Obama is not
Marxist. No he has not set back race relations 60 years. No I don’t think the
world is coming to an end.
Barack Obama has NOT set back race relations, The racist, bigot
right-wing of America set back relations, and what’s more successful than that?
They successfully managed to pin the damage they caused to racial unity on
President Obama, like they do everything else
